Gun of a Preacher Man: Evangelical pastor says Jesus justifies firearms
Meet the real-life 'gun of a preacher man' - and his flock of firearms-toting kids. John Correia is the senior pastor at West Greenway Bible Church in Glendale, Arizona – and a qualified NRA firearms instructor. The Evangelical Christian has an arsenal of more than 20 weapons including three break action shotguns, a Glock 19 handgun and a AR-15 rifle – the type of weapon used in both the Sandy Hook and Colorado theatre massacres. And despite the Bible’s ‘turn the other cheek’ message, the 38-year-old pastor says scripture clearly justifies the use of lethal force. The former naval officer lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with trainee midwife wife Laura and their four children. While oldest daughter Phoenix, 17, is not a fan of firearms, James, 15, Sarah, 12, and 8-year-old Abby all have their own weapons.
