Guinness World Record set for the world's biggest disco ball
Could this be the world’s biggest mirrorball? The organisers of Bestival on the Isle of Wight certainly hope so. Nile Rodgers of disco legends Chic laid down the challenge to break the record for the largest mirror ball ever built, and a representative of Guinness World Records has been called in to assess the new attempt. But size is only part of the record – the disco ball has to rotate in the air for 5 mins at a music event where people dance. Slowly it is hoisted 12 metres in the air, and a team of 6 wranglers start it spinning.

Anna Olsen of Lewis-Palmer High School in Colorado hits an incredibly lucky one-handed, full-court basketball shot that bounced off the floor and managed to sink in the hoop! How awesome is that?
Maggie Lopez and her husband have two teenage boys that play basketball at both high school level and AAU. The boys were participating in a league game between Riverbank High School versus fierce rival Ripon High School and were up by 29 points near the end of the third quarter. One of the brothers, Ylii Lopez, snagged the rebound with less than two seconds left in the third quarter, and made a full-court shot as the buzzer went. Credit: Maggie Lopez
